Industry Practice: Character Sheet

 Industry Practice: Character Sheet

Moving on from the feedback we gave each other after the pitch presentation, I wanted to create a character sheet for the Jester with feedback in mind. Mainly, most of the feedback was to make the Jester more expressive overall, and to represent depression with their movements and expressions.

To start with, I began sketching ideas for how the jester would look, as well as a potential human variant. This may be something I follow up on at a later date, but I focused specifically on the monster variant here.
For the Jester, I wanted him to look to look downtrodden in juxtaposition to his mask, so for this I made the default pose look like he is slumped over.
For the full art, I wanted to make the character look less scary, as well as try some different expressions on the mask. I really think this worked in favour of the character, retaining some unsettling features but generally looking less like a horror game character.
Here is the timelapse. With the character sheet done, I will now move onto drawing sprites with my group in a cohesive consistent style for the game.
