Industry Practice: Formative Feedback
Industry Practice: Formative Feedback
Building on top of the reflection of my own role, this blog will serve as a reflection of the pitch presentation, and how the team succeeded as a whole, as well as what we need to work on. Firstly, I looked at the Module Learning Outcomes which were marked for this part of the project, which were:
MLO1: Research and critically evaluate art and design benchmarks to inform your development of an original Intellectual Property.
MLO2: Reflect critically on your own work and experience within the Games industry, making reference and comparisons to commercially available professional work.
MLO3: Research and analyse the technical and durable skills required for individual job roles within the Games Industry and reflect on how this has informed your own practice.
MLO4: Identify and analyse the relevant legal and economic frameworks relating to current industry practices, in the context of your own work.
MLO5: Develop an innovative Intellectual Property with consideration of genre and target markets.
MLO6: Demonstrate collaborative working practices within a game production studio in response to stakeholder demands and feedback.
MLO7: Demonstrate ethical and sustainable practices in the creation of an original Intellectual Property.
As a whole, we passed all learning outcomes, achieving a good grade at this formative stage which was a 2.1. For the presentation, I think we presented very confidently, showing that we know what our game is about and the serious subject matter at hand. I think we perfectly mirrored how a process like this would go in the game industry, with us showing off the different features of our game. We all also equally contributed to different parts of the pitch, with us each having our own sections.
A thing I think we could've handled better is our own personal touch on the presentation format. I think having recognisable icons and a style would've went a long way at making an impact in the minds of those watching the presentation, and I believe it would be the same within the industry as well. Not only that, using a picture generator for our icons is okay at this stage, but it would be much better to create our own assets for marketing.
For me specifically, I think it would be very beneficial to create an audience profile, using sites I have previously used for research including those in the PowerPoint itself. A point that was brought up that I think we should be VERY careful about is how we approach and avoid stereotypes for conditions. We need to show that the condition is monstrous and not the person.
