Building Alliances - Research and Powerpoint Work
Building Alliances - Research and Powerpoint Work
For our project as UM UM UM UM studios, I made a lot of the slides for the pitch presentation and also referenced most things (Including everything I did). Below are all the slides as well as the logo design I made.
As the director, I put a green/red square on each slide to show
As the director, I gave myself the task of designing an eye-catching logo. I wanted it to stand out, so I immediately started tweaking fonts and skewing letters until I ended up with this, which I was happy with for our logo.
To give the right impression to those watching our pitch presentation, I wanted the first slide to convey the overall mood of the game, whilst not clashing with art styles. I made this, with only the title of the game, the name of our studio, and a piece of concept art from our 2D Lead: Rosie.
I designed this slide as an introduction to our team. I used a Picrew for the pictures (HendiTheHen 2024) and sent it to my team, asking all of them to also do it and add it to the meet the team slide. Additionally, I wrote all the paragraphs shown here for my group members to use as a basis for their introductions. As the director, I wanted to handle as much of the general slides as I could.
Here I created the story slide, which basically serves as the paragraph to describe the setting of the game. I included the tags and mechanics most relevant to the idea of the game to illustrate what we were going for.
Here I started implementing my own parts of research. I researched flood maps and the flood risk of different areas of Nottingham, which you can read about below.
I then spoke about communication, and what we use primarily. I showed an example of how we communicate to each other.
Going back to research, I spoke about the disparities between areas in Nottingham and how this could result in different areas being affected worse than other areas.
I then helped Rosie (2D lead) by starting off the 2D section, showing how we began and what we did for thumbnails, as well as showing some initial thumbnails of mine and the whales from Atticus.
The thumbnails here are from Katie, which I used to describe for the continued section of 2D.
This slide below is an example of when it was unfinished. I put a red square on it to indicate to my team that it wasn't finished yet as Rosie at this point still needed to add her character to it. I described my approach to adopting the chosen art style in 2D.
Below is the Environment concepts from both me and Rosie. I explained the processes I took when designing my concept piece, and the methods I advised everyone to take.
As the director, it was one of my many responsibilities to show a timeline of what we have done so far. I not only did this, but also showed what was next for us - this was obviously subject to change, but was still a good thing to show in the pitch that we are actively working on this game.
Here I researched the target audience of our game, explaining why we were going for the specific age group that we wanted to target for our game.
I used a graph to show the trend of younger age citizens caring more environment, which specifically helps the case that they would be more interested in a game like this.
This is a bibliography I made for my group to use as paste their references into. I put mine in here first and formatted them, so that my group could follow my example as director.
