 Toolkit 2D - Clothing Folds This weeks lesson was about recapping clothing folds. There are multiple types of ways clothing can fold, which are determined by a number of different factors. These could be the material of the clothes, what is underneath, the tension of the clothes and gravity itself. Before I try and draw clothing from any references, I recapped 6 basic folds. Pipe folds are formed by the material being loose and falling from a place above where it is bunched up. This is common to see on a curtain or a skirt. Secondly are drop folds, which are formed when material is loose and drooping down, like holding up a blanket. Both zigzag folds and spiral folds are found as material twists, spiral specifically being formed when a sleeve is rolled up for example. Half-lock folds form around an elbow or a knee, as they occur around joints. After recapping the fold types, I practiced some clothing based off of references as seen below.
